The Tornado

Cabbagetown, originally uploaded by Lance McCord.

Nope, that’s not some war-torn third world country, that’s Cabbagetown in Downtown Atlanta, taken last night after a tornado tore through there. Cabbagetown seems to be hit the worse, partially because it was the main residential area to be hit (The Dome/CNN Center got hit hard as well - during a basketball game at the Dome).

Up here in Buckhead got some tree debris thrown around, but nothing other than that, thankfully. I feel for the people in Cabbagetown, especially from the old Cotton Mill lofts down there who had entire floors collapsing on them. My thoughts are with them.

Donnie was watching the game live when it hit and he was freaked out by it. Seeing the rafters moving around and such. EEK. Glad you are okay.

How awful! We got some pretty bad weather here in N. Alabama last night as well. And a brief storm this afternoon actually tore quite a bit of shingles from our roof. Fun stuff in store Monday! I think I am calling insurance here in a few, though, just to make sure I’m reporting it within an appropriate time frame.

I’m in Sandy Springs, and we got some icky stuff, but mostly just lots of wind… and then some hail while I was in Midtown on Saturday.

Have you seen the pics of the 500 year-old tree uprooted in Cabbagetown that took out half the street, an entire sidewalk and front lawn?
